Abstract:
Electrical Discharge Machining(EDM) deposition technology was proposed to fabricate an abrasive layer with a specially designed compact electrode. Co powders, Cu powders and diamond grains were compressed and sintered as a compact electrode, and then the powders in the compact electrode were deposited on the surface of the workpiece to form an abrasive layer in the EDM method. The good shape of diamond grains were found in the deposited abrasive layer by SEM scanning, and elements Co and Cu were also found in the deposited layer. The experiment result has shown that it can be used to fabricate diamond abrasive layer in the EDM method.
