Study of the Synthesis of Brown Spinel Pigments for Porcelain Insulator

    Abstract:

    Chemical materials of Fe2O3,MnO2 and Cr2O3 were used to synthesize brown pigments with the conditions of electric heating and microwave heating respectively. The composition and structure of brown pigments and the effect on colouration by different synthesis method were characterized by means of SEM, XRD, and Colorimeter. The results have shown that the temperature needed for microwave heating is 200 ℃ lower than that of electric heating and the synthesis time has been shortened by 1/12.The pigments synthesized by microwave heating present the features of fine, regular and uniform grain and ideal colouration result as well. The stability of porcelain insulator colouration can be increased and the chromatism or other defects can be reduced by using synthesized pigments.
