    • Determination of the Mixing and Compaction Temperatures for Warm Mix Asphalt with Sasobit

      2010, 37(8):1-5.

      Abstract (1199) HTML (0) PDF 0.00 Byte (297) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:Asphalt binder viscosity tests and mixture compaction tests were conducted to explore a reasonable method for the determination of the mixing and compaction temperatures for warm mix asphalt (WMA) with Sasobit additive for paving roads. Test results and result analyses have indicated that the traditional binder equiviscous principle is not applicable to Sasobit mixture due to the significant underestimation of the temperature-decreasing effect of the additive. A mixture equivolumetric principle was proposed, which is applicable to both neat binder and Sasobit mixtures to determine the compaction temperature. For neat binder mixture, the temperature determined by using mixture equivolumetric principle is essentially the same as that determined by using binder equiviscous principle. For Sasobit mixture, the temperature determined by using mixture equivolumetric principle is consistent with those recommended by the manufactures and those in practice to date. In view of the fact that influencing factors have little effect on the differences between the apparent viscosity and the actual flow ability, assumptions were also proposed to determine the upper and lower limits of mixing and compaction temperatures.

      2010, 37(8):6-11.

      Abstract (1318) HTML (0) PDF 0.00 Byte (246) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:Four structural types of low-height beam bridge corresponding to bi-prestressed concrete structure, double-side prestressed concrete structure, twice prestressed concrete structure and conventional prestressed concrete structure were employed to compare their mechanical performance, deformation performance, and economy. It has been found that the optimization of structural types and prestress configuration can effectively ameliorate the structural performance of prestressed concrete low-height beams. Twice prestressed concrete structures can reduce the architectural height, decrease the creep camber by up to 50% and save the prestressing steels by more than 10%, compared with the conventional prestressed concrete structures, and have more techno-economic advantages than other three prestressed concrete structures.

      2010, 37(8):12-16.

      Abstract (927) HTML (0) PDF 0.00 Byte (232) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:Firstly, the shear element stiffness matrix of contact surface for reinforced soil-structure was analyzed, the failure characteristics of shear stress were considered, the Mohr-Coulomb strength criterion was considered to measure microcosmic element strength of reinforced soil, and a statistical damage constitutive model for the simulating process of reinforced soil slipping deformation was established. Secondly, on the basis of this, a comprehensive approach to determine model parameters was proposed, and this model has fewer parameters and explicit physical meanings. Finally, the theoretical result of this paper was compared with the conventional direct shear tests. It has been indicated that this model can simulate the characteristics of the slipping deformation of reinforced soil, and can reflect the law of shear strength with normal stress. It has been shown that the method proposed is rational and feasible.

    • Stability Analysis and Design Proposals for Cold-formed Purloins under Wind Uplift

      2010, 37(8):17-23.

      Abstract (1046) HTML (0) PDF 0.00 Byte (231) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:The stability capacity of cold-formed purloins with conventional gauge and span was analyzed under wind uplift. The analysis was divided into two parts. The first part was performed on the stability capacity of C-and Z-shaped simply supported purloins, while the other was performed on the stability capacity of Z-shaped continuous purloins with lapped connections, which was affected by the length of lapped connection, number of spans and so on. The comparison indicates that the formula of specification is considered to be conservative between the results of finite element method and the results of design formula in technical specification for steel structure of light-weight buildings with gabled frames(CECS 102:2002). According to the above analysis, applicable design formula and methods for simply supported purloins and continuous purloins with lapped connections under wind uplift were proposed.

A special turning system with its own feature will be formed.

    • The Uncertain Structural Optimization Based on Interval Number Program for the Spindle System of High Speed Grinder

      2010, 37(8):29-34.

      Abstract (1201) HTML (0) PDF 0.00 Byte (246) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:The flexible dynamic model of spindle system of high speed grinder was constructed to simulate the performance of spindle system under uncertain grinding force, which is more suitable to model the actual working condition. Radial basis function approximation model was used to replace the time consuming simulation model. The approximation model was created by the samples obtained through Latin hypercube experiment design method within the hybrid space, which was formed by the design space and uncertain space. The uncertain optimization method based on interval number was employed to optimize the design of spindle system. After optimizing the key variables of spindle system, the displacement magnitude of grinding wheel’s centroid decreases greatly, which indicates that the quality of grinding becomes better. The respones interval of the optimal design under the uncertainty can be obtained sequentially.

      Abstract (1389) HTML (0) PDF 0.00 Byte (236) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:In order to study the characteristics of the state-of-art Brake-by-Wire (BBW) systems, the structure and model of the electromechanical brake (EMB) actuator was discussed. Then, in terms of the nonlinear properties of the braking process and the complexity of road conditions, the dynamics of quarter vehicle was presented. Finally, to regulate the slip-ratio of the vehicle under brake while making use of the friction provided by the road, a sliding mode controller (SMC), which was able to control chatter, was designed and computer simulation was studied under Matlab/Simulink. The results have shown the feasibility of the proposed sliding mode controller, and its comparison with PID controller has demonstrated its advantages over PID controller.

    • Curve Fitting and Taylor Series Based Fast Post-contingency Voltage Estimation

      2010, 37(8):40-44.

      Abstract (1124) HTML (0) PDF 0.00 Byte (226) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:Based on Taylor series expansion and curve fitting technique, a fast method to determine the node voltage was proposed. At the first stage, the pre-contingency voltage was calculated on the basis of Newton power flow approach, and the 1 to 3 order derivatives of voltage with respect to branch outage parameter were calculated by using the convergent power flow equation of the base network topology. Several points around the fault branch parameter could be obtained by using Taylor series expansion. At the second stage, the function of the node voltage with respect to the fault branch parameter was obtained by using curve fitting technique. The related parameters in the node voltage function were determined with four voltage equations. The advantage of the proposed method is that the coefficient matrix of various derivatives of node voltage with respect to the fault branch parameter is identical, and there is no need for the re-factorization of the coefficient matrix. The standard IEEE system analysis results have verified the correctness and fastness of the proposed method.

      Abstract (1001) HTML (0) PDF 0.00 Byte (232) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:A 10-bit,150Msamples/s pipelined ADC is presented. The power of the ADC can be reduced by using dynamic comparators. The ADC has high dynamic performance when the input frequency is higher than the sampling frequency by using a bootstrap switch in the sample and holding amplifier (SHA). The ADC is fabricated in a TSMC 0.25 μm CMOS process and the active area is 2.8 mm . The measured integral and differential nonlinearity errors of the ADC at the full sampling rate are less than 1.15 LSB and 0.75 LSB, respectively. At the sampling rate of 150 MSample/s, it achieves a peak SFDR of 52.4 dB for an input frequency of 80 MHz. The power dissipation is 97 mW.

    • The Rearch for Preparation and Performances of BMI Resin CBN Precision Whetstone

      2010, 37(8):54-57.

      Abstract (1078) HTML (0) PDF 0.00 Byte (205) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:BMI resin solution synthesized by using BMI resin and the solvent of acetone was mixed with CBN abrasive in proper proportion to prepare slurry, and then the whetstone was prepared with the process of casting, acetone evaporating and resin curing. The best dosage of the acetone was analyzed with the microstructure of the whetstone. Experiment results have shown that, when the content of acetone is under 16.9%, the CBN abrasive is not well-distributed in the BMI resin. However, when the content of acetone is 23.4%~29.0%, the CBN abrasive distributes uniformly. Nevertheless, as the content of acetone was up to 33.8%, the CBN abrasive deposits in the BMI resin. In addition, when the content of acetone is 23.4% and the BMI resin content is in the region of 7%~16%, the flexure strength and hardness of the whetstone are reinforced with the increase of the content of BMI resin. If the content of BMI resin is beyond 16%, it is difficult to volatilize the acetone as the viscosity of slurries increases, which results in the increase of the porosity and the decrease of the flexural strength and the hardness of the whetstone.

    • Isolation and Molecular Characterization of Semi-dwarf Mutations in an Elite Rice Cultivar

      2010, 37(8):66-73.

      Abstract (1125) HTML (0) PDF 0.00 Byte (226) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:Zhu1S is an elite indica thermo-sensitive genic male-sterile breeding stock widely used in hybrid rice production in Southern China. To improve the key agronomic traits of this elite cultivar, somatic mutagenesis method was used to screen for semi-dwarf mutations. The phenotypic and preliminary molecular characterization of two somatic mutants, named SV1S and SV14S, was reported. Compared with the parent Zhu1S, these mutations have reduced plant statures, shortened and thickened the lower internodes significantly but the upper internodes slightly. Furthermore, we have found an approximate 200 bp deletion in the GA20ox-2 gene encoding the key GA metabolic enzyme and little transcription of this gene in both semi-dwarf mutant lines. These results have indicated that SV1S and SV14S mutants are more likely impaired in gibberellin metabolism derived from the same mutation, which is partially responsible for their semi-dwarf phenotype. However, both mutants have similar height at the seedling stage and slightly reduce the GA sensitivity of amylase activity in aleurone cells, which is different from the previously reported sd-1 mutants. Therefore, it is assumed that there is a second-site mutation in the SV mutants. Our results have further demonstrated the usefulness of somatic mutagenesis in the rice breeding program.

      2010, 37(8):74-78.

      Abstract (1151) HTML (0) PDF 0.00 Byte (235) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:In order to reduce the power consumption of mobile stations and the air interface resource utilization of serving base stations, IEEE802.16e introduced a sleep mode, in which a mobile station stopped its normal service. In order to balance the average energy consumption and the average waiting time, this paper proposed a power function increase algorithm for the sleep mode. According to different traffic requirements, this algorithm can adjust the increase of sleep interval with different a. Average response time and average power consumption are two performance measurements. Through numerical analysis and simulation experiments, the authors compared the above two performance measurements of different sleep mode algorithms under a>0. Simulation results have shown that the power function increase algorithm with a=1.2 has the lowest average power consumption. It saves the average energy consumption by 11% and decreases the response time by 55%, compared with the exponential algorithm.

    • A RANSAC-Based Cylindrical Image Registration Algorithm

      2010, 37(8):79-82.

      Abstract (1459) HTML (0) PDF 0.00 Byte (219) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:A RANSAC-based cylindrical image registration algorithm was presented. First, the algorithm makes a coarse matching for the detected Harris corner points by using the NCC algorithm. Then, it reduces the false matched pairs by the two pass of improved RANSAC algorithm to increase the number of right matched pairs. At last, it optimizes the affine transformation model parameters by using Levenberg-Marquardt algorithm to lower the registration error. Experiments have shown that the right matched ratio of Harris corner reaches 99.2% after one time of improved RANSAC, and reaches 99.6% after two times of improved RANSAC. Compared with the existing methods, it has achieved higher right matched ratio under similar conditions.

    • Interactive Algorithms for Optimization to Multiple-objectives Design Problems with Stochastic Environment

      2010, 37(8):83-86.

      Abstract (1126) HTML (0) PDF 0.00 Byte (218) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:From a kind of problems such as network design and transportation scheduling,a class of stochastic multiple-objectives optimization models have been formulated,in which there are one quaduatic and one linear objective functions and several linear constraints. We converted multiple-objectives optimization problems into a single-objective optimization problem based on the expectation level of Decision-Maker.The deterministic equivalent formulation was obtained by a new approach, called hybrid method of variance and expectation. Then,an interactive algorithm was developed, which reflected the preferences of Decision-Maker.Numerical experiments showed that the proposed new method is prior to the existing method both in reflecting the satisfaction degree of Decision-Maker and in obtaining a robust solution.

      2010, 37(8):87-92.

      Abstract (1154) HTML (0) PDF 0.00 Byte (228) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:To verify the effectiveness of Banking Regulatory Commission's “New Deal” and the financial crisis on the efficiency of the Chinese Trust Industry, data envelopment analysis (DEA) was conducted to analyze the operational efficiency of our 37 trust companies in 2008. Empirical results have shown that the technical efficiency of China's trust is generally low, and the mean is only 0.507, which is mainly due to the low scale efficiency and the pure technologies. Meanwhile, this paper reviews the total factor productivity dynamics in China's Trust industry from 2004 to 2008 with Malmuiqst productivity index, and the results have shown that the total factor productivity in the Chinese trust industry has a more significant improvement in total factor productivity growth, which results mainly from the technological change. Also, the technical efficiency change tribute is low.
